About Our Founder

Melanie Yi is an accomplished pattern maker with a vision to help aspiring individuals launch the business of their dreams, and to help existing companies expand. Along with 25 years of experience in pattern making, fit corrections, manufacturing and quality control, Melanie’s hands-on approach, attention to detail and commitment to high quality leads her clients to success.

She founded MelyiDesigns88 in 2006 and has been guiding businesses through their adventures ever since.

Melanie graduated from Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in pattern making and grading. 

Her vast experience includes tech packs, pattern making, organic fabrics, extensive travel to plan and over see manufacturing and quality control, cut and sew knits, wovens, for women's and children's lines. 

She has supervised on launching lines for Jaclyn Apparel, Goodwill of South Florida, Dwell Studio including "Dwell Studio for Target” for both apparel and home, Cotton Bureau, Kid Kong, Otto-Finn and many others.

Melanie lives in Bloomfield NJ with her husband, son and their Yorkie, Maple.
